Here you can find different ways of installing Spotify for Linux. Spotify for Linux is a labor of love from our engineers that wanted to listen to Spotify on their Linux development machines. They work on it in their spare time and it is currently not a platform that we actively support. The experience may differ from our other Spotify Desktop clients, such as Windows and Mac. You can tell us what you think and ask other users for help at theDesktop (Linux) boardin The Spotify Community forum.
Install on Ubuntu
It is an unofficial app that is developed and maintained independently. The official Spotify software is only released for smart phones and the web. This unofficial app (browser addon) is a wrapper to the original Spotify application and tries to make it usable as a browser plug-in. I'm using a Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015, running Beta 72.0.3626.74 firmware. I've been using the Spotify for Android app for a while, and thought it was great. But looking through the settings yesterday, I noticed it was only streaming at low quality, because Data Saver is turned on. No sound spotify mac.
